JADE by Monica and Karishma has been a label devoted to celebrating Indian heritage and craftsmanship through its contemporary and eclectic aesthetics right since its inception. This year is a truly special one for the label as this year marked JADE’s decade long journey in Indian fashion, while Chanakya Exports – JADE’s parent company completed thirty years.
The grand gala, which was held at the iconic Taj Palace, Mumbai amid the who’s who of Indian and international fashion and JADE’s prestigious clientele. Maria Grazia Chiuri – Creative Director of DIOR and mentor to Monica and Karishma – was the special guest at the event.
The evening started off with a walk through of JADE’s installations – each of which are iconic archival pieces from Monica and Karishma’s personal collection, that bear testimony to ancestral savoir faire and the transcendental beauty of handcraftsmanship. The momentous milestone was heralded fittingly, with a very special limited-edition collection titled, ‘ONENESS’. The show – opened with Astad Deboo, who weaved poetry through his immaculate choreography and a display of exceptional couture gowns and ensembles. Actress Jacqueline Fernandez took the ramp as the showstopper. ‘ONENESS’ is limited-edition couture edit that marked our break from everything we have done in the past, and its venture into new creative and artistic territories.
